The Review of Hydrogen Production Processes
There are several processes to produce hydrogen. The scope of the research work
is limited to the renewable source powered electrolysis process and the fossil
fuel-based reforming processes [Processes squared in red in figure 4.2].

The process of the hydrogen production and its associated costs are determined by the design of the production system, its operation characteristics and the
quantity and type of losses encountered during the production and the delivery to
the end user. The whole hydrogen lifecycle shall be considered from the production, storage and to the distribution (Thanapalan et al. 2012). In case of hydrogen
produced from renewable energy sources, the cost of hydrogen depends from the
distance between the renewable energy source to the end user.
