large-scale power stations but also owners of small-scale systems. The Large-scale
Renewable Energy Target (LRET) is set to reach 33.000 gigawatt hours of additional generation by 2020. The 30.000-gigawatt hours target remains constant from
2021 to 2030 under the Renewable Energy Act 2000 (Federal Register of Legislation—Australian Government n. d.). The Renewable Energy Target scheme is a
nationwide programme completed by the Australian Federal States own renewable
energy targets.
New South Wales
New South Wales has an energy security issue. It is the most coal dependent state
of Australia for its electricity generation. New South Wales imports electricity
from Queensland and Victoria. The strategy document suggests the creation of
3.000 megawatts Renewable Energy Zone opened to renewable energy project
developers (NSW Government 2019).
Victoria
The State of Victoria has set the renewable energy targets to 20% of the energy
mix by 2020 and to 40% by 2025. These targets have been amended to reach 50%
by 2030 (Renewable Energy Action Plan 2017). The renewable energy generation capacity to reach those targets is estimated to be of 10 gigawatts from 2020
