The tags are the commercial UHF tags Inlay H47 with its chip is Impinj Monza
4QT, the readers are Impinj speedway revolution R420, and the readers’ antennas
are Larid A9028. The laser ranging sensor is Wenglor X1TA101MHT88 with its
measuring range is 30m. Simultaneously, the transmission coefficient of electromagnetic wave in a material has great relationship with the dielectric constant of
material and the larger the dielectric constant, the lower the transmission coefficient.
Therefore, we have chosen the carton as pasted material with low dielectric constant.
Due to the advantages of high accuracy, high speed, and good directivity, laser
sensor has been widely applied in the field of distance measurement. In practice,
there are two kinds of laser ranging sensor: pulse laser ranging sensor and phase
laser ranging sensor. The pulse laser ranging sensor is chosen in this paper and the
corresponding structure is shown in Fig. 5.14.
Firstly, laser transmitter sends a light pulse beam to measured target. When the
optical pulse transfers in optical lens, it is divided into two parts. One beam, after
reflected in the front of lens, transfers into the laser feedback module; subsequently,
the beam is photovoltaic converted, filtered, rectified, and then transferred into time
to digital converter (TDC). The other beam is diffused once it reaches the target
through the lens; the part of diffuse light transfers into laser receiving module and is
handled according to the above process. Finally, the whole measurement process is
completed via processing the time difference of two beams.
In the whole system, the laser ranging sensor connects with RFID reader and
control computer via serial port.
The system is applied to multiple readers and multiple tags. In the case of a reader
and multiple tags, the reading performance could be improved via locating the tags
appropriately. Simultaneously, in the case of multiple readers and random tags, the
reading performance could be improved via locating the readers appropriately.
