Pyrolysis transforms the logs into charcoal under oxygen-deprived conditions without burning them to ashes. Harvesting charcoal is also manual,
involving the use of rakes (Fig. 6.2e) to separate silt from the charcoal, which is then handpicked and typically packaged in flexible sacks
