About the Author
scientist for the project of the world’s first dedicated pulsar navigation test satellite, X-ray Pulsar-based Navigation 1 (XPNAV-1), since 2013. The XPNAV-1 was
launched successfully into orbit in November 2016, and he proposed the scientific missions and experimental programs of the satellite. As of October 2020, all
scientific test objectives of the XPNAV-1 have been achieved, and the satellite still
runs normally in the orbit, carrying out the extended tests. He has made the distinguished pioneering contributions to promote and demonstrate the first spaceflight
test mission of the pulsar navigation technology, and establish a new space science
research branch of autonomous navigation for spacecrafts by using X-ray pulsars
as beacons. In addition, he has ever served as a senior engineer for the project of
BeiDou system from 2003 to 2009. He has made the distinguished contributions to
design the BeiDou navigation constellation. The regional BeiDou system was built
in 2012, and the global BeiDou system was completed in 2020, officially providing
the services for the worldwide users.
