General remarks
The reported lectures outline the fundamental role of the group theory in simplifying the modelling of the chemical bond. It is showed the possibility of fast
interpretation of the results of electronic spectroscopy and magnetism.
A simple quantum mechanical treatment is used, being the wave equations
resolved by the aid of the symmetry operators.
For a chemist, it is a great value to simplify the quantum mechanical approach,
as the molecules are complex systems whose electronic properties risk to be
absolutely unknown.
For me, there was no better satisfaction as to look to a spectrum and in a short
time being able to approach the molecular structure.
The applications which follow will demonstrate it.
The examples have been selected on the basis they apply the principles described
before and clearly demonstrate that the results of the investigation help to understand the functionality of the compounds.
