General remarks
The case studies described in this chapter demonstrate that, basing on the symmetry
arguments, the electronic properties of molecules, clusters, surfaces, and also particles can be conveniently described. Being the electronic properties responsible for
the chemical functionality, the symmetry can be definitely related to the functionality of all the species.
Thus, the most simple and visible property, the shape, is able to suggest possible
reactions and applications of the chemical units, being an important bridge between
the base and the applied science.
