or lines, all of which indicates good welds. There were no defects, such as pores or
cracks.
10.5.2 Mechanical Properties
To analyze the influence of welding current on the MP of TC4 titanium alloy KTIG WM, the tensile property and impact property of titanium alloy K-TIG WMs
with different welding currents are tested in this section. The tensile test and Charpy
impact test of BM and WM were conducted base on ASTM E8 [46] and ASTM
A370 [44], respectively. The schematic diagram of the specimens is displayed in
Fig. 10.45.
10.5.2.1 Tensile Property
After the K-TIG welding, the tensile property of the BM and the TC4 titanium alloy
K-TIG WM with welding currents of 510, 530 and 550 A was tested. The tensile
strength and elongation of the BM and the WM are displayed in Fig. 10.46. The
tensile strength and elongation of the BM are 1054.5 MPa and 18.3%, respectively.
The test results show that when the welding current is increased from 510 to 550 A,
the tensile strength of the TC4 titanium alloy K-TIG WMs gradually decreases.
When the welding current is 550 A, the tensile strength of the WM is the lowest, but
it already meets the tensile strength requirements of the TC4 titanium alloy plate.
When the welding current increases, the elongation of the TC4 titanium alloy K-TIG
WM gradually increases.
