Jan Jansen is analyzing plant communities developed in the Hortus Botanicus
Nijmegen since its foundation. In addition, he is conducting research on new types
of vegetation that are emerging on the beaches along the river Waal, The Netherlands. A third field of interest is about flora, vegetation, and ecological problems
related to socioeconomic developments in the interior of Portugal.

Martin Lindner is professor of biology and geography education at the University
in Halle/Germany. He studied biology and chemistry in Kiel/Germany to become a
science teacher for 10 years. After that he lectured at the University of Flensburg in
the Biology Department and at the IPN in Kiel (Leibniz-Institute for Research on
Science and Mathematics Education), coordinated a large national project for professional development of science and mathematics teachers in North Germany
named SINUS, and worked in nine EU projects on science teaching in Europe.
Besides this, he researched on mires and heathland in Northern Germany and is
engaged in projects of restoring these ecosystems.

Michaela Moro-Richter is Research Assistant of the Department of Ecology and
Environmental Education. She is interested in botany, landscape ecology and
development, environmental ethics, and aesthetics. She is head of the group working
on the global hyperendemics database (Hypedata).

Volker Müller-Benedict was full professor in sociology and research methods
(retired since 2018). He studied mathematics (diploma), educational science
(PhD), and sociology (German habilitation). He is working in the fields of modeling
and simulation of social systems, the history and sociology of higher education, and
statistical methods. He collected databases of time series of student frequencies, of
academic careers, and of university grades (available at histat.gesis.org). A new
publication (together with G. Grözinger): Noten an Deutschlands Hochschulen.

Konrad Ott is full professor for philosophy and ethics of the environment at
Christian Albrechts University at Kiel. He is working in the fields of discourse
ethics, environmental ethics, sustainability, climate ethics including climate engineering, concepts of nature conservation, marine protection, nuclear waste, and
environmental deliberative democracy. He is member of Kiel Marine Science and
member of the cluster of Excellence ROOTS at Kiel University. He is member of the
German National Committee of “Future Earth.”
