– As an extension to GAFT, we then introduced the principle of active safety,
which is able by modeling the dependencies of the hardware elements and using
the introduced tracing algorithms to derive in case of latent faults the originating
element of a fault and in reverse order the elements that might be affected by a
fault.
– In essence, we introduced in Part I of this work the field of fault tolerance and
give the user a guideline to the design of fault-tolerant systems.
