connected to the power grid, as shown in Figs. 14.21 and 14.25. This power station
is a key scientific and technological project of the Ninth Five-Year Plan of the
Ministry of Science and Technology. The project was completed in February 2001
and has now entered the stage of trial power generation and sea state test. The
power station mainly includes the main structure of the gas chamber, the turbogenerator unit and the transmission and distribution control system. The power
station has functions of overvoltage automatic unloading protection, overcurrent
automatic regulation, water level restriction, power failure protection, and overspeed protection. The pilot run of 100 kW wave power station built by the Institute
of Ocean Technology of Tianjin State Oceanic Administration has been successful
in Daguandao, Qingdao, in September 1999. The 100 kW oscillating water column
power station has the functions of overvoltage automatic unloading protection,
overcurrent automatic regulation, water level limitation, power failure protection,
and overspeed protection. All protective functions are automatically executed under
the control of computer, which greatly reduces the need for manual intervention.
