crossing are successfully discussed by the kinetic discussions [44]. Circular dichroism (CD) and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) of [5]carbohelicene derivatives were measured because they show the chirality. In particular, HeliIm provides
excellent CPL and the anisotropy factor g lum was calculated to be 2.4 Â 10
À3 . Note
that this result is the first example of observation of CPL for [5]carbohelicene
derivatives (Fig. 5.5a) [44].
Then, [5]carbohelicene fused by benzimidazole unit ([5]HeliBI) was synthesized
