477.44 kN. The spherical bird has the shortest length, so it can transmit all kinetic
energy to the flat blade in the shortest time, which is the main reason for its maximum
contact force peak. The contact force curves of the other three shapes of birds are not
much different, and the contact force generated by the cylindrical bird is the smallest,
which is 327.08 kN.
A specified node is set at the center point on the back of the flat blade, which
represents the maximum displacement of the blade. Figure 22.7 shows the displacement history curves of the node under the birdstrike of the four birds. It indicates that
the blade deformation caused by the spherical bird is the largest, reaching 81.09 mm,
and the blade deformation caused by the ellipsoidal bird is the smallest, which is
69.88 mm.
