Microbial Nanobiotechnology
in Nanocatalysis: Degradation
of Pollutants and Sensing Applications
A. Donia, N. Malik, and H. Bokhari
1 Introduction
Due to rapid increase in environmental pollution, scientists have now begun to opt
for green approaches for industrial processes. Green chemistry in association with
biotechnology can be employed to develop efficient methods for manufacturing
nanomaterials (Ribeiro et al. 2016). Nanomaterials manufactured using microbial
nanotechnology could result in a favorable environment-friendly substitute to not
only chemical but also physical methods of synthesis of nanoparticles (Li et al.
2011; Khan et al. 2018). In this review, various applications of nanomaterials in
sensing as well as degradation of pollutants have been discussed.
