Stefan Nowak is Managing Director of NET Nowak Energy
& Technology, a consultancy in renewable energy with special
emphasis on photovoltaics, energy efficiency and sustainability which he founded in 1997. Stefan graduated in experimental physics in 1980 at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland),
followed by a Ph.D. in plasma physics performed at the Swiss
Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne (Switzerland) and the University of Fribourg in 1986. His academic
research activities covered thermonuclear fusion, plasma and
surface physics as well as thin films. Stefan’s biography is characterised by a continuous evolution from research to technology, innovation and business management. His broad technological expertise is enhanced by activities in communication, market research and policy support. Stefan received the Becquerel
Prize in 2017. Stefan was programme manager for photovoltaic
research for the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) until
2018. He presently manages and advises various national and
international energy related projects and programmes and serves
as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Photovoltaic
Programme of the International Energy Agency (IEA PVPS,
www.iea-pvps.org).
