In 1975, he founded and co-directed the Centre for
Electronics Design and Technology (CEDT) at the
Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. CEDT is now
one of India’s leading University Centres in the field of
electronics. It has a strong industrial orientation.
From 1968 to 1975, he was lecturer and R&D group
leader at the Department of Industrial Research of the
ETH Zürich.
Since 2006, he has been active as a scientific
consultant to the PV laboratory and to various
Industries, in Europe, India and the USA.
Since 2008, he has been an active member of the
Green Party of Switzerland; from 2009 to 2013, he was
a member of the legislative assembly of the Canton of
Neuchâtel.
He received the Swiss Solar Prize, together with
Johannes Meier in 2005. He received the Becquerel
Award in 2007.
