About This Book
This volume amplifies the traditional electron and phonon spectroscopies, including
STM/S, XPS, UPS, AES, APECS, NEXAS, LEED, and Raman scattering and IR
absorption, to their spectrometrics. This amplification allows for genomic information about the bonding, electronic, and molecular dynamics and energetics
pertained to bond relaxation by physical multifield perturbation and bond transformation upon chemical reaction. Physical perturbation includes atomic and
molecular undercoordination, mechanical compression, thermal excitation, electromagnetic radiation, etc. Chemical reaction includes CNHO chemisorption,
atomic hetero-coordination, and aqueous solvation. Spectrometrics had led to
atomic scale, dynamic, local and quantitative information on bond relaxation in
length and energy, staged bond transforming dynamics, anti-hydrogen bond and
super-hydrogen bond formation, valence band and potential barrier evolution,
bonding electron quantum entrapment, nonbonding electron polarization, atomic
cohesive energy, binding energy density, elastic modulus, Debye temperature,
single-bond force constant, etc.
Targeted audience includes researchers, scientists, and engineers, in chemistry,
physics, surface and interface science, and materials science and engineering.
