11.7 Conclusion
AeroHydro Culture Technology is mainly applied in peatland restoration and rehabilitation, of which technology mainly consists of the application of materials from
land surface. Therefore, AeroHydro Culture Technology is available to suboptimal
land, not only peatland. Among the application materials of AeroHydro Culture
Technology, biochar is one of the key materials. As biochar is a porous material, it
has high-water holding capacity, which is a good property even in dry land or
dryness-peatland.
In Indonesia, suboptimal land including peatland is largely potential to be developed into productive agricultural areas. As suboptimal land, its potential productivity
is limited by poor land quality and water availability. However, the results of various
research efforts carried out have shown that by thorough implementation of appropriate management, suboptimal land productivity can be improved. One of those is
