13 C Chemical Shifts (δ in ppm)
The 13 C chemical shifts of thiocarbonyl groups are higher by about 30 ppm than
those of the corresponding carbonyl groups:
δ C=S ≈ 1.5 × δ C=O -57.5
Carbonyl groups of thiocarboxylic acids and their esters are deshielded by about 20
ppm with respect to the corresponding oxygen compounds.
