Abstract
Environmental pollution affects the quality of soil, water, and atmosphere.
Tremendous efforts have been made in the recent past to minimize pollution
sources and remedy or rejuvenate the contaminated soil and water resources.
Phytoremediation and nanoremediation, being very cost-effective and fewer bad
impacts than chemical and physical approaches, has gained rapid importance in
both academic and in the field. There are number of plant species and
nanoparticles have been identified to have potential for soil and water remediation. It is also expected that recent research in the field of biotechnology will play
a huge role in the development of new techniques for the eco-friendly remediation. This chapter attempted to provide a brief knowledge on recent progresses in
research and practical applications of phytoremediation and nanoremediation for
soil and water resources.
