Chu and Parechu basins are 5009, 992 and
663 km, respectively (Table 16.2).
16.6.1.4 Mean Stream Length (Lsm)
The mean stream length is calculated as the
ratio of total stream length of particular order
with a number of streams of a segment of that
order (Strahler 1964). The Lsm ranges from
0.50 to 0.84 km within the study area
(Table 16.2). Lsm of any given order is greater
than that of the lower order and less than that of
its next higher order up except first order of
Spiti and fourth order of Tsarap Chu and
Parechu.
