low-grade form eventually to heat and the other of reversible-like processes including the
“conversion” of heat into mechanical energy; whereas the natural changes are dyadic and
non-reversible, the reverse-like changes are triadic and made to happen as the result of
efficacious causation for achieving efficiency.
8.7.1 Definition of Waste Heat
The useful range of managing EGP is subject to the limits, as in Eq. (122), the
lower and the upper limits of system-reservoir heat exchange corresponding to the
spontaneous event and the reversible event, respectively. The existence of the
Poincare range, defined by the two limits, suggests two alternative heat concepts.
For a managed event of system-reservoir with heat exchange Q, the management
performance of the event can be characterized by (see Fig. 8.8)
