20.2.3 River Basin Management Plan for the Vistula River
Basin District
The RBMP for the Vistula River basin district was approved by the President of
the Council of Ministers at the meeting of the Council of Ministers on 22 February
2011 and published in the Monitor Polski Official Journal No. 49 item 549 [14]. The
document set forth planning objectives related to water management, which are to
be achieved through the implementation of the indicated tasks. It included:
1. A general description of the characteristics of the river basin district in question,
including without limitation:
• The list of bodies of surface water together with their types and the reference
conditions established for them;
• The list of bodies of groundwater;
2. The summary of significant anthropogenic impacts identified and the assessment
of their impact on surface water and groundwater status;
3. Lists of protected areas referred to in Article 113(2)(5) together with their
graphic representation;
4. The map of the monitoring network together with the presentation of monitoring
programmes;
5. The determination of environmental objectives for bodies of water and protected
areas;
6. The summary of the results of the economic analysis related to water use;
7. The summary of the measures included in the country’s water and environmental
programme, taking into account the methods of achieving the environmental
objectives set;
8. The list of other detailed programmes and management plans for the river basin
district concerning sub-basins, economic sectors, issues or water types, together
with a summary of the contents of these programmes and plans;
9. The summary of the public information and consultation measures taken, a
description of their results and the changes to the plan made as a consequence;
10. The list of authorities competent for river basin district management.
