Urethanefinds limited service in weak acid solutions and cannotbeused
in concentrated acids. Urethanes are not resistant to steamo rc austics,b ut
they are resistant to deteriorating effects of beingimmersedinwater.Refer to

It is possible to apply uniform coatings or films of urethane to avariety of
substrate materials including glass, metal, wood, fabric, and paper.Urethane
coatings are oftenappliedt ot he interior of pipesa nd tanks.
Filtrationunits, clarifiers, holding tanks, and treatment sumps constructed
of reinforced concrete are widely used in the treatment of municipal,
industrial, and thermalg enerating station wastewater.I nm anyc ases,

urethane linings are used to protect the concrete from severe chemical
attackand prevent seepage into the concrete of chemicals that can attackthe
reinforcing steel.T hese linings provide protection against abrasiona nd
erosion, and act as aw aterproofing system to combat leakage of the
equipment resulting from concrete movement and shrinkage.
