Acknowledgement to Country
I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands and waters that we live and work on across
Australia and pay my respect to Elders past, present and future. I recognise that Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander peoples have made and will continue to make extraordinary contributions to all aspects
of Australian life including culture, economy and science. I specifically wish to respectfully acknowledge and pay my respects to the Wadawurrung peoples and their Elders, past, present and future, the
Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters upon which my research and writing of this book focus
and have been concluded. I duly acknowledge the rich cultural and intrinsic connections they have
with their Country. I also recognise and acknowledge the contribution and interest of other Aboriginal
peoples, Traditional Owners and organisations in the management of their lands, waters and natural
resources in this region.
