even necessarily desirable: without appropriate training and professionalisation, people are even more susceptible to bias. As such, algorithmic
editors are here to stay. The situation is much less clear, however, for
algorithmic writers: for the task of creating stories about the true complexity of our world, particularly in an environment that is evermore
chaotic in terms of climate change or political events, the role of big tech
and automation must be to aid human intelligence in understanding,
challenging, and ultimately transforming that world.
