7.6.1 Using Multiple Outputs
The same model can be tested with multiple conditions to vary the drug
introduction time. Figure 7.14 shows the plots of the normal cells versus drugaffected cells. The model results showed a competition between the cancer
cells for survival. Figure 7.15 shows 2D and 3D views of the model results.
It is important to be able to manipulate the results with multiple output
tools to analyze them closely. Certain models need 3D views to show effect of
surrounding cells, whereas some models can use graphs to show concentration
gradients between cells and their survival rates. Multiple output codes can be
run separate to simulations or during simulations as seen earlier in Drosophila
modeling. Separate code can also be written, which will read or parse all the
the XML simulation files to produce an excel data sheet. This can then easily
extract the values into columns and draw graphs for analysis. FLAME has
example files written in C and Java which can be run separately, after the
simulation is finished to extract the values.
