Mariusz Baranowski is an assistant professor of sociology at Adam Mickiewicz University
in Poznan. He was educated at the same university within the Inter-Area Individual Studies
In the Humanities and Social Sciences (achieving two Master’s degrees: one in Sociology and
the other in Philosophy), where he received his Ph.D., and his areas of specialization include
economic sociology, social movements, methodology, and social welfare practice and policy.
He was awarded research scholarships in Norway (University of Oslo), Germany (University
of Potsdam), the Netherlands (Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam), Greece (Aristotle University
of Thessaloniki), Spain (University of Murcia), the Czech Republic (Masaryk University). He
has published numerous articles, and his books include Corporate Governance Effectiveness in
