in Tanzania were created and how these places are working for local communities and
for nature conservation. Nevard and Nevard (2014) presented the reserve they have
successfully designed and constructed in the Mareeba region, which is acknowledged
by birding experts as the richest region for birdlife in Australia, by what has become
a multi tourism, award-winning, non-profit foundation. It would be good, therefore,
for other enterprises that wish to promote themselves as ecotourism and to implement
principles of ecotourism to use these positive examples as good practices to follow.
6 Conclusions and Recommendations
The idea of ecotourism grew out of admiration for the beauty of nature, then evolved
towards respect and care for the good of local communities and their traditions and
culture, and eventually becoming the core of sustainable tourism. Due to many, not
easily achievable principles, it is still very demanding for all participants but yet
very tempting and promising, especially in the field of natural and cultural heritage
maintenance. It also offers to tourists a perspective of a valuable use of their free
holiday time—in some extent, it could be an attractive option for many of them,
as much for those interested in natural or cultural values as for adventure lovers.
Despite all the controversy and problems, it should be supported by all means, and
