internal transcribed spacer (ITS1-5.8S-ITS2) sequences were analyzed in the ribosomal RNA gene, and, for chemical investigations, EtOH or AcOEt extracts of dried
roots were selected. The root phytochemical profiles and the ITS sequences were
examined as independent parameters to one another. To date, many sesquiterpenoids, euparin-type benzofurans, and phenylpropanoids have been isolated.
