Through analyzing the energy status of China, Japan, and Korea in terms of
energy consumption, energy use efficiency, and power generation, it is clear that
development in all three countries is dependent on fossil fuel. China is the largest
coal consumer, while Japan and South Korea are more dependent on oil. All three
countries are major energy importers and face similar crises in energy security. In
