connector inserted into the case filter assembly. In the separation process, the existing
connector and filter O-ring sealing connection structure is changed to a simple fitting
connection method, thereby improving the convenience of separation. As a result
of the improvement, disassembly became possible sequentially in the order of case
filter, connector, and filter. Therefore, the weight of parts to be worked is dispersed
in the decomposition process, and the use of auxiliary equipment is no longer necessary, thus improving the convenience of remanufacturing. The time required for the
remanufacturing assembly process was shortened by about 7 s in the conventional 10
s (7 s (tool access) + 3 s (placement)) to 2 s. Products that are designed to improve
the convenience of remanufacturing require a reliability assessment based on the
manufacturer’s quality specifications. A comparative analysis of the performance
before and after improvement of the part design showed that there was no problem
such as deterioration of the quality level.
3.4 Summary
In this study, we performed a series of processes from product planning to design,
including remanufacturing convenience evaluation, selection of key improvement
items, improvement of derived items, and detailed design. Through these processes,
a product development case considering the convenience of remanufacturing that can
be applied in the new product production process is presented. The results of this
study are as follows.
A series of remanufacturing processes such as disassembly, reassembly, cleaning
and inspection were carried out in order to identify the parts to improve remanufacturing convenience in existing products. As a result of the evaluation, the deco-cover
front assembly with the adhesive fastening method which cannot be disassembled and
