range between 0.11 and 0.7 g. For the Galaxy S6 loudspeaker the neodymium magnet
is 20% of the weight of the loudspeaker.
The content of neodymium in some loudspeaker assemblies in absolute and relative terms is so low, that a selection by model type might be necessary to achieve
reasonable concentrations for recycling.
26.4.3 Tantalum Content
Figure 26.13 shows the tantalum content for the three smartphone models selected
for this part of the analysis. The tantalum weight ranges from 0.012 g to 0.07 g.
Tantalum content is therefore very low in absolute and relative terms. The weight of
the respective smartphones ranges between 133 and 152 g. For the Galaxy S7 the
tantalum concentration in relation to total weight is only 0.05%, and even lower for
the other models.
Relatively, the S7 has higher tantalum content due to the higher number of tantalum
capacitors. Older devices and other applications have much larger tantalum capacitors, but for these smartphone generations the size of the tantalum capacitors has
low variation.
