My wife Sheila, and Bot’s wife, were in one skiff (Fig. 18) and Bot and I in
another (Fig. 19). Sheila and I did not know a lot about Orang Asli customs, but
right or wrong, we figured we would “do as they do” so as not to make anyone feel
uncomfortable. Our strategy was simple: we did not want to offend or intimidate people.
