mainly barley or bengal gram. The
traditional way of preparing sattu
involves the use of an iron vessel in
which the grains or grams
embedded in sand are roasted. Later
they are sieved and then grind to
fine flour).

The sattu
which is prepared by soaking wheat in
water has cooling effect and often prescribed by
Unani physicians in sue mizaj har
(immoderate
temperament caused by excessive heat).
Sattu
prepared after boiling in water and then roasted
is more nutritious and has a greater cooling effect;
additionally, it is less flatulence.
Haleem
(Haleem is made of wheat,
barley, meat usually minced beef or
mutton, goat meat or lamb and
mutton or chicken, lentils and
spices, sometimes rice is also used.
This dish is slow cooked for seven
to eight hours, which results in a
paste-like consistency, blending the
flavours of spices, meat, barley and
wheat).

tonic
Boiled wheat produces thick humours, especially
when cooked with meat this type of diet is a boon to
physically active people. It has more nutrition and
produces good quality of blood. It also provides
vigour and vitality to the body.
