had moved to urban areas. In this sense, the owners, the local administration and
the associations of the sector must ensure that HT contributes to the diversification
of the tourist offer and combats tourist seasonality. At the local level, cooperation
between all stakeholders is necessary in order to activate animation projects and to
stimulate the offer of services related to the tourist activity. Only this way can the
positive social, economic and environmental impacts of this modality of tourism be
maximised.
Most of all, the host of a manor house, in order to maximize the profits, must
dedicate himself/herself to the hosting activity. It is also essential that the manor
house establishes an effective connection with the local actors. HT facilities should
appeal to all kinds of guests. Competitiveness should not be based on price, but on
formalisation and differentiation of the hosting proposition. Albeit that, hosts should
not formalise too much the HT, otherwise they will not differentiate it from massive
accommodation. The host should act as an enricher of the hosting activity. To do
this, he/she must be aware of everything that happens in the surroundings and serve
as a facilitator of the guest’s experience.
