Rural Community Prosperity Versus Tourism Progress …

to pursue a set of 17 SDGs that would lead to a better future for all. These SDGs, and
the corresponding 169 SDG targets, offer the world a new direction, where tourism
should play a significant role in delivering sustainable solutions for local communities, the planet, prosperity and peace. More precisely, it has been included as a
target in Goals 8, 12 and 14 on production, sustainable consumption, and sustainable
economic growth (https://tourism4sdgs.org/tourism-for-sdgs/tourism-and-sdgs/).
3 Materials and Methods
In order to move forward with sustainable development and community-based
tourism progress in the Serbian countryside, it is interesting to determine the relationship among local residents, tourism effects and the work to improve them. Considering the situation, this type of study is very functional and imperative. Moreover, the
main focus of this research is finding evidence on how tourist activities can affect the
welfare of the local population in the selected rural areas. Are there statistically significant differences in attitudes depending on respondents’ level of average monthly
income? Are there any possible statistically significant distinctions depending on
to what extent their economic activities are directly close to tourism? And, do they
have an impression that the number of people in their communities has grown due
to the influence of tourism development or not? Consequently, the broad segments
of community-based tourism’s impact, as well as its effect on the local people, will
be described (Fig. 2).
The research has three goals. First, relying on Lankford and Howard’s research
(1994), we test the TIAS to examine respondent perspectives in observed locations.
Second, we search for differences in attitudes among subgroups divided by results of
