The fluid density is the total density of the fluid mixture, i.e., sediments and water.
Tailings may be assumed to be fully saturated.
Previous work on Bingham fluids have found a correlation between these parameters and the concentration of solids, particle size and presence of clay minerals where
τ y exponentially increases as a function of C v , τ y will change slowly with increasing
V v (Julien 2010). At some point this changes such that small changes in C v can result
in significant changes in τ y .
