11.8.4 Facilitate Networks and Partnerships
Partnerships are important for accessing and pooling of resources. They should be
developed to facilitate joint learning and sharing of knowledge. Policymakers need
to consider themselves as indirect stakeholders and understand the views of Green
entrepreneurs to tackle the barriers that they face (Koester 2016).
11.8.5 Empowerment
Small business Green entrepreneurs are key players in the creation of jobs and
innovation. Consequently, they need to be invited to engage in policy development
discussions, including multi-stakeholder platforms. The creation of platforms for
dialogue also offers opportunities for these businesses to develop partnerships
important for innovation and unlocking opportunities within the market.
Provide two key examples in Africa.
11.8.6 Conducive Regulatory Environment
The government should play a role in the preparation of an attractive business
environment for Green businesses. In sub-Saharan Africa, Green entrepreneurs face
many barriers to entry compared to more advanced states. To unleash innovation,
there is a need for governments to streamline bureaucratic processes, utilize
resources at the local government level to efficiently implement policies, and ensure
that courts can efficiently enforce land tenure rights.
