11 Green Entrepreneurship
11.7.2 Market Awareness
Apart from the high costs, there are low levels of literacy in sub-Saharan Africa. Due
to low educational levels, many people do not value Green entrepreneurship. They
also do not think “outside the box” and realize that Green entrepreneurship can be a
solution for some of their problems. Green entrepreneurship can be obtained if there
is market awareness among the sub-Saharan African people.
Identify ways of solving the market awareness challenge in sub-Saharan
Africa.
11.7.3 Low Literacy
The low levels of education imply that people lack the foresight, prerequisite skills,
and knowledge for venturing into Green entrepreneurship. Many countries have not
incorporated the concept of Green entrepreneurship into their national curriculum,
an aspect that would have enhanced the potential for more people to venture into
this industry.
11.7.4 Lack of Consumer Awareness
Many people in these countries are not aware of Green products. Green
entrepreneurs, therefore, fear that their products would not be purchased or used.
Therefore, many decide to venture into a non-Green business where they can find
a market for their products (Koester 2016). Familiarity with Green products could
be beneficial for increasing the number of people who will become receptive to use
Green products.

challenge?
