11.3.2 Characteristics of Green Entrepreneurship
Many scholars discuss the various intrinsic characteristics of Green entrepreneurs.
First, Allen and Malin (2008) believe that they behave like entrepreneurs by
coming up with new ideas and taking high risks. Second, Green entrepreneurs
have robust internal motivation and sensitivity to environmental issues. Third,
they tackle social or environmental issues, and their activities positively affect the
natural environment. Finally, eco-entrepreneurs for a more sustainable future and
use their environmental and social values to contribute towards it. Consequently, the
entrepreneur plays a pivotal role in actualizing the objectives of Green entrepreneurship.

The other fundamental aspect of Green entrepreneurship is the Green economy.
The United Nations Environment Program provides a useful definition for the
Green economy. It defines the Green economy as economic growth accompanied
by the emission of low carbon and pollution, better resource efficiency, and
sustained ecosystem services (Allen and Malin 2008). Allen and Malin (2008)
argue that a Green economy can be important for tackling significant developmental
and economic problems. They include economic growth support, climate change
