and economical advancements, as well as the need to protect the environment within
which our society lives.
Explain how the triple-line approach could be beneficial for environmental
sustainability?
However, environmental sustainability is not just exclusively about protecting the
environment. It also recognizes the importance of incorporating human health, and
economic as well as social well-being to ensure that people, or other forms of life,
do not suffer as a result of laws enacted to protect the environment. This is all within
a time frame that addresses both the immediate and longer-term effects of human
actions, and how we can seek to improve them now and for future generations.
10.4.2 The Primary Goals of Environmental Sustainability
Environmental sustainability is a multi-faceted and complex combination of issues
that must be tackled simultaneously. Given the complexity of the problem, it is
essential that we set a number of goals to strive towards finding equilibrium between
sustaining human civilization and the proper functioning of the environment. In
2012, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development met with the
intention of discussing this and developing a specific set of goals and targets.
Which SDG do you believe to be the most important?
One crucial component of the SDGs was the novel concept of nature having
rights. We as a society have stewardship of our planet and it is important that we
place people at the forefront of solving these global issues, through environmental
management and managing resource consumption. Now that we fully understand
the full scope of what must be done and the angles that must be addressed to ensure
sustainability, we will discuss specific areas of human behavior, how they affect
the world we live in, and how environmental sustainability can be used to solve
the problems they produce. This must all be considered with the overall mantra of
environmental sustainability as development that can meet our current needs but at
the same time ensure that future generations’ needs are not compromised.
