The fishermen of eastern sector of Indian Sundarbans often penetrate illegally
into the deep forest for catching commercially important species like Liza parsia,
Liza tade, Penaeus spp., crabs (Scylla serrta) etc. They are often attacked by crocodiles, tigers and sharks. Perhaps because of this reason, the fishermen community
has given maximum weightage to Bonobibi (MGDS2 = 150.5) followed by Manik
Pir (MGDS2 = 83.2), Dakshin Rai (MGDS2 = 82.4), Olabibi (MGDS2 = 45.6) and
Ma Manasha (MGDS2 = 39.9) as presented in Figs. 10.6, 10.7 and 10.8.
For collecting honey and wax, people of Indian Sundarbans also enter the deep
forest where there is high probability of getting being attacked by wild animals.
This has been reflected in the values of MGDS3 which are 154.0 for Bonoibibi and
143.0 for Dakhhin Rai (Table 10.1 and Figs. 10.9, 10.10 and 10.11).
