The test conditions were as follows: batch culture, 200 mL glucose culture medium for 48 h, and
an initial pH of 6.0. The data are the average of triplicates with standard deviations (n = 3)
48 h. Among the eight treatment methods, the physical (heat, aeration, drying, or
ultrasonic) treatments resulted in superior efficiencies in cumulative biogas production to those of the chemical (alkali, acid, sodium 2-bromoethanesulfonate (BES), or
chloroform) treatments. Obviously, when applying the drying and BES treatments
to the pre-treated PADRs, biogas yields higher than the control can be obtained.
The increment in cumulative total yield of gas was because the organic matter was
transferred from particulate to soluble one. Through calculation, it is obtained that
