The preliminary results of the synthesis of algological research in Algeria revealed a temperate
to warm-affinity algal flora (R/P: 2.9) with a total of 526 taxa, of which Rhodophyta represent
the majority (328 taxa). The combination of multiple indices (similarities,
abundances/dominances, EEI-c, MALUSI) revealed the influence of anthropization degree on
the ecological quality of infralittoral macroalgal assemblages in the Algiers region, with
"Good" ESC (Ecological Status Class) waters in the western part (lightly anthropized), while
the central to eastern parts (high anthropization) are classified as "Moderate-Poor" ESC. This
finding is partly supported by the co-dominance of ESGI/ESGII taxa, particularly a significant
contribution from the group of calcareous species (ESG IC), which are tolerant to
environmental disturbances, indicating moderately polluted waters. The results of multivariate
analysis (particularly PCA) align with these observations, differentiating the various sites based
on their degrees of anthropization, relying on the number of taxa (T), number of opportunistic
species (OPP), and to a lesser extent, the ESGI/ESGII ratio, EQR, or MALUSI.

représentent la majorité (328 taxons). La combinaison de plusieurs indices (similarités ;
