3. Site characteristics
The site of the future WWTP has a relatively flat, sloping morphology, extending over an area
of around 3 ha.
3.1. Climate situation
Taoura is characterized by a Mediterranean climate with cold, rainy winters and dry, hot
summer. Its climatic regime depends on several main parameters, such as:
3.1.1. Precipitation
Precipitation is a fundamental climatic factor that conditions seasonal runoff and directly
influences the regime of rivers and aquifers (DAVIDE, 1956).
I have noted the absence of a metrological station in the Taoura region, therefore I will use the
monthly rainfall values for the period (2003-2018) recorded at the Souk-Ahras metrological
station.
