The livability and value buildings , such as beach homes ,
condominiums , hotels ,and marinas , depend ,however , on coastal
stability – a requirement that is at odds with the dynamic state of coastal
systems.
Humans endeavor to impose their will on the coastline principally in one
of two ways : 1 by interfering with longshore transport of sand and (2)
by redirecting wave energy striking a stretch of shore .
