Skin : ( in French : la peau) : the layer of tissue that covers the
body.
Sessile : ( in French : sessile ) : refers to organisms that are fixed
or attached to a substrtate .
Symbiosis :( in French : le symbiose ) : refers to the interaction
between two organisms that live in close physical relationship.
Tentacle : ( in French : tentacule) : one of the thin long parts of
the body of some aniamls , used for feeling or locomotion or
feeding…..etc
Vertebrate : (in French vertébré) : refers to organisms that have
a vertebral column.
Water- repellent : ( in French : imperméable) : that does not let
water through.
Zooplankton : ( in French : zooplancton) : microscopic marine
organisms.
Zooxanthellae : ( in French : la zooxanthelle) : tiny algae that live
in symbiosis with corals .
Marine processes / ocean properties :
Anoxia : ( in French : anoxie) : when there is an abnormal growth
of algae in water or what we call euthrophication , this will lower
the level of oxygen in water and kill some marine organisms.
Aphotic : ( in French : aphotique) : on of the zones into which the
ocean is divided based on sunlight penetration , this zone refers
to the bottom of the ocean where there is no light at all .
Abiotic : ( in French : abiotique ) : it is the non-living part of the
environment.
Biotic : ( in French : biotique ) : refers to the living part of the
environment .
Brakish : ( in French : saumâtre ) : slightly salty .
Capillary wave : ( in French : onde capillaire
) : is the smallest
wave to appear in the ocean.
