13.8 The Art of Citing Quotes
Citing a quote is the only case where it is OK to have text written on the screen and
reading it out loud.
• Only show the quote as you start citing it. Not before (otherwise the audience
will start reading it ahead of you), and not after (what would be the point?)
• You can read a quote at a relatively slow pace, as it appears on the screen
• For a long quote, let it appear in sections, so that readers do not get ahead of you,
and the amount of text is not overwhelming
