11.9 Adapt Your Slides to Your Talk
As you repeatedly practice, your talk might evolve in a direction different than what
you had originally intended. As such, you might realize that the sequence of your
slides no longer matches exactly how you want to say things. Do not hesitate to
change the sequence, modify the animations, add some animations, remove elements, etc. Your slides have to match your talk perfectly! (not the other way around).
For instance, if you realize that you keep forgetting addressing a specific critical
piece of information, make sure you add a visual cue to it in your presentation, at
the exact moment you have to discuss it.
You should not need a piece of paper (cheat-sheet) to remind yourself of your
talk. Your slide deck IS your cheat-sheet! If you keep forgetting about something,
make sure you introduce an animated item which will remind you of discussing it at
the appropriate time.
